| Mes Amis,
Ten years ago people
thought I was crazy to
open a restaurant on
42nd Street.
Well, I am still crazy
but back then, I didn't know
the difference between
a bottle of Bordeaux and
a bottle of Burgundy.
Worse, I like my steak well
done and I'm allergic
to garlic.
To tell the truth, I
even had doubts myself.
But this frustrated actor
was happy to finally be on
"naughty" "bawdy" 42nd
Street with my fellow
pioneers like Playwrights
Horizons, Intar, the John
Houseman Theatre and
the West Bank Cafe.
And guess what? The
miracle happened. You
came and gave life to
my dream.
The journey we took
together had a cast of hun-
dreds - the creative
chefs and our tireless, loyal
kitchen crew, the caring
waiters, and the fantastic
performers so generous
with their talent.
As we close the last
pages of the century, all of us
at Chez Josephine look
forward to continuing
the "magic" for decades
to come.
You, after all, are
our "raison d'etre"- the reason
why we turn on the lights,
set the tables, uncork
the wine and open the
door.
So, let the piano play
on and let us celebrate
together. My brother
Jarry, the irreplaceable
Ramon and all the family
at Chez Josephine join
me in thanking you for
keeping the dream alive.
De Tout Coeur
